Crafty Wednesday's: Smarten Up x Wendy Mullin

We had a great time crafting trick or treat bags with Wendy Mullin at Thompson LES on Sunday.  The perfect thing about this project is that with the little vinyl pocket this crafty creation is the just right accessory for any occasion - with a Halloween pic it can be used for trick or treating, with a wish list it is just right for Christmas, it can display a heart for Valentines day, and just about anything else for any day of the year!  So sweet and so easy!

What you'll need:

-2 pieces of felt (we used 9.5 x 11") with matching squares cut out for handles

-A vinyl square for your pocket (we cut ours to 7x7")

-Yarn/string and a needle to sew (this step requires some adult help!  We sewed the vinyl pocket on and punched holes in the felt before the activity so the kids could use a plastic needs with yarn to sew in seconds!)

-Materials to decorate - glitter glue, fabric paint, fabric stickers, pom poms, felt, googly eyes, etc.

-The perfect picture!

First, have an adult help sew on the vinyl pocket.  Then using a large needle (preferable plastic) and some colorful yarn, sew the two pieces of felt together around 3 sides to make a bag.

Then it's time to decorate!

Last, find the perfect something to put inside your pocket.  We chose pictures of each child all decked out for Halloween.
